Job Opportunity: Volunteer Manager

The Berlin & Beyond Film Festival is seeking applications for the Volunteer Manager position for the upcoming 26th film festival. The Volunteer Manager will be hired as an independent contractor, serving under the advisement and supervision of the Festival Director. The 26th Berlin & Beyond Film Festival will take place March 11-16, 2022 in the San Francisco Bay Area at multiple venues.

TERM & COMPENSATION:

February 1-March 31, 2022 (flexible schedule to be discussed for pre- and post- festival; full-time during the festival). Fixed compensation to be discussed (temporary/seasonal, no benefits).

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Present at team meetings and planning meetings.
  • Present at film festival presentations and scheduled events.
  • Work with Festival Team to coordinate Volunteer Orientation Meetings.
  • Organize and oversee a profile database of all registered volunteer.
  • Create, maintain and oversee volunteer schedules.
  • Maintain effective communication with all volunteers.
  • Supervise volunteer shifts and work closely with various Festival Departments to assign volunteer shifts before, during and after the Festival (such as box office, special events, marketing, guest services, etc.).
  • Organize all rewards for volunteers (such as complimentary t-shirts, complimentary tickets, etc.)
  • Coordinate the driver schedule plan with VIP Manager.
  • Write thank you notes to all volunteers post-Festival.
  • Work with Festival Team to coordinate Festival Volunteer Wrap Party following the festival.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have legal status to work in the US.
  • Attention to detail along with strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and efficiently while handling multiple commitments and deadlines.
  • Experience in film festival and cultural events preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Team-oriented, motivated, highly organized, and able to work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to work with (and learn from) diverse ethnic communities and individual personalities.
