Youth 4 German Cinema
APPLY FOR THE 2021 PROGRAM
Attention Young Movie Fans! The Goethe-Institut’s Step Into German program and the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival are seeking students from across the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean (ages 14-18) to participate as jurors in the eighth annual program of Youth 4 German Cinema. If you’re interested in German arts and culture, this is your opportunity to be a part of this year’s unique hybrid festival. Six applicants will be selected.
BEFORE THE FESTIVAL
Participants will join together to form the Youth 4 German Cinema jury. They will screen selected German films online (with English subtitles), engage in discussions, and choose two films to be shown at the festival.
AS PART OF THE HYBRID FILM FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
– Present the Youth 4 German Cinema Award virtually with a filmmaker from the winning film.
– Play an active role in a live virtual Q&A recording with the filmmaker. The Q&A will also be shown on the big screen at a drive-in presentation of the film in San Francisco.
– Attend an exclusive virtual workshop by a media professional.
Participation in this program will not only make a great addition on the student’s resumes and college applications, it will also allow students to learn the fundamentals of film analysis, film production, and how to network and make connections for future endeavors.
